This device is reported to have a lot of awesome features but it’s battery will no longer be removable.
There have been multiple reports that have stated that the Galaxy S6 from Samsung is not going to have a metal unibody, after rumors had been suggesting that this was the direction the company would be taking. Instead, it will have a glass back panel and its power source will not be removable, meaning that external battery chargers may become a top tech gift for future owners of this phone.
Leaked images of the Galaxy S6 had suggested that the device would have a metal unibody, but those rumors are being questioned.
One month before the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to be unveiled in Barcelona at the MWC, an official from the company has stated that the metal unibody is not part of the mobile device design. Instead, it will come with its typical and dual edge forms, but they will each have a glass back panel, instead.
This decision by Samsung was likely the result of their hope to differentiate the A-Series and their plastic backs and metal frames with the Galaxy lineup. It is the non-removable battery, though – which was also confirmed through that source – that makes it clear that the owners of these mobile devices are going to start to be loyal users of external battery chargers.
External battery chargers will help to ensure that those devices will always have the charge that they need.
The use of glass backs on the device is being met with mixed reviews. While some think that it will add a sleek new appearance that will be appropriate for a high end product, critics feel that the company should have learned from the use of glass backs by Apple and Sony, in the past. Neither of those companies continued to choose that material and many wonder why Samsung has opted to take that route.
The user-replaceable battery has always been a popular feature in Galaxy devices in the past. This made certain that people who wanted to be able to simply swap batteries to ensure that they always had all of the charge that they need, could do so.
Now, it will be external battery chargers all the way, for the Galaxy S6. Of course, none of this will be made official until the Mobile World Congress. We’ll just have to see.
